Philodendron ‘Mutant Birkin’
$25.00
Philodendron Birkin — Mutant Form
6” Pot
Description
The Mutant Birkin is an unstable, collector-favorite variation of the classic Birkin. Instead of clean white pinstripes, it may produce broken striping, sectoral variegation, half-moon leaves, or partial reversion to its Rojo Congo parent. No two plants look the same—each new leaf is a genetic surprise. This unpredictability is exactly what makes it desirable.
Care
- Light: Bright, indirect light (supports stronger variegation)
- Water: Allow top 1–2″ of soil to dry between waterings
- Soil: Well-draining, chunky aroid mix
- Humidity: Average to moderate (50–70%)
- Temperature: 65–80°F
- Growth Habit: Upright, self-heading
- Fertilizer: Balanced fertilizer, diluted, monthly during active growth
Notes
Variegation is unstable by nature. Some plants may revert; pruning back to a desirable node can encourage renewed striping. Color and pattern will vary plant to plant.
