Dahlia Tuber Dividing Workshop
Join us for a hands-on Dahlia Tuber Dividing Workshop with Craig Bell from Bonny Blooms at The Accidental Plant Shop in the Three Rivers Crossing Mall in Kelso.
Saturday at 5pm
$50 per person
Limited to 6 spaces
We’ll provide clumps and snips, and you’ll go home with the tubers you divide. The clumps we’ll be working with are all first-year dahlias grown in 2025 in Craig’s breeding patch, an assorted mix of colors, forms, and surprises. At the end of class, attendees can keep what they’ve divided, and there will be time to swap tubers around with others if you’d like.
This workshop will run for a couple of hours and will blend instruction, discussion, and real practical dividing at the table. We’ll cover how to store clumps through winter, how to clean them up, how to spot dormant eyes, when to divide, and the best conditions for drying and storing tubers. We’ll also talk about starting tubers early, storage methods for tubers intended for selling and shipping, common mold issues, and even how to recover tubers that have dried out too far.
A small group, lots of time for questions, and a chance to leave feeling confident with one of the most important dahlia skills there is.
